JIRS Special Issue on Model Based Reasoning in Engineering and Robotic Systems
I am Professor of Intelligent Systems, lead Intelligent Systems and Robotics Group, in the School of Creative Technologies, University of Portsmouth. I previously held research appointments at the University of London, University of Aberdeen, and project leader appointments in large-scale industrial control and system integration industry. I received a PhD in Intelligent Robotics from Kings College, University of London, UK.
In general, I am interested in approximate computation, pattern recognition, multi-sensor based information fusion and analytics, intelligent robotics and their practical applications, especially in cognition-driven biomechatronics and information abstraction, with an emphasis on approaches which could make contribution to the intelligent connection of perception to action using contextual information. For this emphasis, I have developed a framework based on approximate computing and it has been implemented into intelligent video analytics, human motion analysis, multi-fingered robot manipulation, data novelty detection and intelligent control for electric vehicle suspensions. I am an Associate Editor of IEEE Transactions on Industrial Informatics, IEEE Transactions on Fuzzy Systems, IEEE Transactions on Systems, Man and Cybernetics, Part C, IEEE ICRA CEB, International Journal of Fuzzy Systems and KES Journal. I am also a Senior Member of IEEE and a Fellow of IET.
